Experience: 15+ years’ experience in preconstruction for a general contractor
Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management or Engineering

Primary Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

  • Recruit & select new Estimating Team Members
  • Training & develop all estimating Team Members on best practices to include LEAN construction processes
  • Maintain tools to communicating staff scheduling & workload
  • Assign newly awarded & pending projects to staff
  • Conduct performance reviews for Estimating Department Team Members
  • Promote positive relationships between the Estimating Team & other Pogue departments

Estimating Leadership:

  • Lead Bid Room activities on CSP/Hard Bid projects
  • Act as a lead estimator on projects when necessary
  • Support Team with conceptual through GMP estimates when necessary
  • Review Bid Forms, scope of work & bid tabbing for completion
  • Review GMP with associated Alternates & Value Management
  • Review general conditions & general requirements
  • Review other’s estimates for accuracy & completeness
  • Update/manage/archive unit cost & historical cost information
  • Measure metrics for estimating success (+/-3%)

Process Improvement:

  • Lead estimating process improvement initiatives
  • Oversee all estimating procedures & processes
  • Evaluate estimating software & hardware
  • Participate in strategic planning exercises with Pogue Leadership Team
  • Collaborate with Leadership Team to determine & incorporate innovative practices/initiatives
  • Support VDC Integration in conjunction with VDC Department
  • Collaborate with Pogue Project Management Staff to review subcontractor performance

Business Development: 

  • Participate in industry expositions & conventions
  • Promote activities essential to developing new market sectors

  • Review final GMP booklets to be delivered to owners for consistency of appearance
  • Archive historical statistics for RFP competitions
